Men's Vets (The Old Deers) travelled to play Teddington in EH O50s Cup this afternoon and won comprehensively 6-0 ! A great all round team performance with 4 goals from Paul Hales and 2 from Matt Bradley. We were 2 up at half time but it should have been more with the Teddington keeper working hard and repelling what we threw at him for the first 20 minutes.
Some really good passing, expansive hockey gave us the upper hand throughout with Griff only rarely called on as the back line of Matt Viney, Simon Dearnley, Graham Jackson and Dave Watler held firm and provided us a platform to move forward regularly. Our creative midfield of Richard Meakin, Matt B, Stuart Hobkirk and myself were indeed creative with Stu's surging dribbles causing their defence real problems with John McFadzean and Paul up front frequently peppering the Teddington goal and Ian Dunbar (Dobbo) ably supporting as sub.
Paul and Matt smacked in 2 goals each in the second half and we were comfortably in control. Teddington had a better spell of play for about 10 minutes forcing a short corner but nothing more.
Great to have Dave Houston cheering us from the touchline! We had two National League umpires for this match too! Nice post match hospitality from Teddington, a pleasant team who we should play again at some point.
So into the next round at end Nov, so far so good!!
