The ladies 4s had a brilliant game on Saturday. After last weeks defeat we bounced back in style. We approached the game with a much sunnier outlook than the grey sky above us and it showed in our play.

We were positive from the start, startling the opposition with our attacking mindset. It resulted in us scoring the opening goal of the match. It was a brilliant finish by Scarlet but the result of a great passage of play by the mids and forwards.

We went into halftime 1-0 up. We spent halftime playing pass the parcel with our energy boosting sweets and talking about what we could improve: our marking and using the full width of the pitch.

In the second half we were faced by a much more aggressive team. After a sustained period of defence we conceded a short corner which Addiscombe promptly scored. 1-1.

It was a frustrating game in that we had a lot of chances and only a few goals line clearances stopped us from going ahead again. We were the better team but we couldn’t convert on our opportunities.

Nevertheless, we were happy with the result and it was a well deserved point. What was amazing was that it was a team effort and everyone played their part. As seen by the fact almost everyone got a vote for player of the match. The result was a tie with myself for doing my bit to make sure we only conceded the one goal and Helen for her tireless work ethic and grey movement/game awareness. Shout out to Tarren who also received an equal amount of votes but withdrew herself from the competition (personally I think she just wanted to avoid wearing a silly hat as it was a well deserved nomination.

Wally of the week goes to Paddy (who was MIA at teas so we have no picture :( ) for not letting the match from stopping her making a friend. Who she followed up the pitch to a make a rare appearance in the opposition’s half to continue their chat. But it did mean she marked her player brilliantly! :D

Credit goes to all the volunteers who helped out. I’m not going to list you all because I’ll probably forget someone but you were all amazing and played with smiles on your faces which was lovely.

I also want to thank Su Smith and Tim for umpiring you’re both rock stars.

Finally a special mention to Orlaith and Bethany for their awesome dishwashing skills.
