Everyone turned up at Guildford for an early 9 o’clock meet, it was sunny but a little nippy.
In our pre match team talk we spoke about our press, being aggressive and putting in 100%.
Well I can confirm all of these happened. Guildford gave us the ball many times due to our press, we won loads of tackles, and everyone worked really hard. Goal number one came from an awesome pass from Millie into the D with Katie getting the deflection on the far post. Then we had a bunch of short corners, which we didn’t capitalise on, however it will be a good focus for the next match.
The 2nd goal came from Meg passing the ball into the D and Charlotte getting the deflection from standing on the Guildford keeper. Then I accidentally tried to take the Guildford push back in my excitement and had to be reminded by the umpire that it was their’s!
As half time came around we were all really positive and talked about retaining a lead and not conceding any goals.
In the 2nd half, I am not too sure what happened but I know 2 things. Lauren made an epic save from their short corner saving a drag flick. And Mia scored an great goal by running the baseline and flicking it over the opposition's stick into the back of the net!
We left the pitch, with a 3-0 win under our belts, a great way to start the season. MOM, went to Rachel for some silky skills and some important tackles, closely followed by Millie, Mitch and Mac. Thanks Chris for umpiring and Baggy for tactical mastermindship and running the subs.
