Ladies 1 played our final pre-match friendly against a strong Alton side who play at least 1 possibly 2 Divs higher in South Central (I mean, they had a drag-flicker!).
With only 10 core L1 and 4 L2 players, we put in a fantastic performance keeping them to 1-0 at half time. We dominated the 3rd quarter with some strong possession and attacking play and Orla scored a well worked short corner to bring us to 2-1. We thought we had the edge going into the final quarter but Alton found some reserves and scored 3 quick goals to finish 5-1 loss.
Positives:
1. A strong performance against a slick team.
2. Great communication, linkup and teamwork.
3. A good press up front.
4. A strong middle with Liv, Orla, Charlotte and Rachel.
We are going to work on: ball speed!
Some great performances were reflected in the MOTM votes with Orla winning most votes and Ella, Liv and Charlotte receiving lots of points too.
Well done also to Emma Garvey in goal, Katie Balsom, Tilly Holt and Maria Vatis for their debut 1s match, especially after playing 2s directly before.
I was voted Donut for claiming my nose wasn’t part of my head (after receiving a elbow to the nose and refusing to go off for an HIA.)
