Last night's Club AGM saw some changes

Last night's AGM saw a number of new faces join the committee and said goodbye to Alan Dow as outgoing Chairman.

Alan took over at short notice and, in the end, steered the club through the rocky days of Covid - not an easy task, and not one he had envisaged. The Club would like to thank him for all that he achieved during those gloomy times. He was always a stop gap between Su Smith's sudden departure and today, having said he would only be a temporary holder of the role. Unfortunately Covid took hold and he stayed longer than planned. Despite that he has managed to keep the club going and his plan to just give everyone as much hockey as possible has proved to be a cohesive and successful strategy. Once he has finished organising the Commonwealth Games he will continue to umpire and he will still be around, from time to time, to help out with umpire development.

The AGM agreed to a new system of charging for subscriptions and match fees (this will be covered in a different update) but the general thrust of the changes is a lower annual subscription and a £10 match fee for all games (£5 for juniors). This means that the fixed costs of running a club are covered by the subs but if you play more - you pay more.

New committee appointments were made and the Club now has a new Chairman and Vice Chair. Jenny Morgan is the new Vice Chair and creates a bridge between the juniors and the female sections of the club and the new Chairman is James Abley. James bring a fresh approach to the running of the club, he has a few interesting months ahead, but we wish him well and congratulate him on his new appointment.

There are some other changes which you can check out by going to the Contact page on the website.
