Mens 4s vs CoW Rustlers

Today I write my match report in reverse by thanking the Umpires for controlling what was at times a feisty and physical game. We have all said it before but as a club we are so lucky to have such a depth of good qualified umpires and Simon and Jabley did an amazing job yesterday. Thank you and sorry you had such a testing day. Its not normally like that at Mens 4s div 6 level.
We came up against a vastly different CoW team that we played and beat away 9-1 earlier in the season. They closed us down really quickly from the off and were very physical and camped in our half for most of the first half of the game we didn't get our act together quick enough and conceded an early goal. Might have been down to having a full squad on the bench or that we were a bit switched off or complacent as a result of the previous fixture. However conceding the goal seamed to stir the 4s into their normal resolve. And suspecting they had potentially loaded their team we dug deep and made it to half time 1-0 down.
Team talk was simple we aren't losing this one. They've bought the fight to us so we match them. A slight change to formation to strengthen the middle and us reverting to our possession and width game brought us back into it and for large chunks of the second half we applied pressure and lived in thier back yard. Not to say we didn't have a couple of scary moments in our own!
Our equaliser came as a result of a great counter attack started by a classic Errol Parrish interception between 2 CoW players a forward ball to Phill who beat 2 or 3 defenders and slotted it past the keeper. And a Phil Hutson celebration almost as good as Pierre-Charles Wood from 4 weeks ago!!!
Once again everyone put in a shift today witnessed by the motm voting being spread over 7 people. The eventual winners being Errol and Phil with 5 each. But other mentions to Iain Griffin, Jack, Rhys, Ed, Nathan. Kieran for playing for us for the last 3 weeks and in a different position each time. And Simon Dearnley hope the back is OK today.
Thanks as always to our ever vocal sideline support and as captain my apologies for any bad language you may have heard
used by both teams at the end. It is not a normal occurence as I hope you appreciate of the Mens 4s.
